Frequently Asked Questions

Can Therapy Help me?

Therapy can give you support, validation, coping skills, and strategies to change your perspective and your behaviours. It can give you greater peace of mind and help you tolerate difficult feelings and situations. Your therapist creates a safe, non-judgmental space for you to express yourself authentically.

Therapy cannot change other people or external circumstances. Therapists may provide psychoeducation, feedback, and guidance, but they don’t give answers.

Abstract Colors 4

If you’re new to therapy or are exploring unprocessed trauma, therapy may make you feel a bit worse before you feel better. It is difficult to know how long it will take for you to feel better. But, generally, the more you put into therapy, the more you’ll get out of it

How do I know if a therapist is a good fit for me?

A good relationship with anyone –– including your therapist –– depends in part on the 'chemistry'. It also depends on transparency. The goal is to work through any difficulties that may come up together.
